The weather couldn't have been any better and the greens were filled with golfers participating in the Housatonic Youth Service Bureau and Sharon Hospital Golf Tournament at Silo Ridge on June 21.
A record 148 golfers participated in the event which raises money for the Bureau. The HYSB works to serve the youth communities of many Connecticut communities by educating them about underage drinking, safe driving and other issues kid deal with. This is the fourth year Sharon Hospital has helped sponsor the tournament.
"We are extremely pleased to have Sharon Hospital serve as the corporate co-sponsor of this event," stated Cynthia Bianchi, director of the Bureau. "Due to their partnership with us it has become a yearly sold-out event with 148 golfers not only enjoying the day of golf, but the dinner and awards ceremony following. "
The day started with a shotgun tee-off followed by 18 holes of golf with teams of four players. There was also a hole-in-one contest sponsored by www.Robinhoodradio.com.
Bianchi said the partnership with Silo Ridge over the years has been wonderful.
"The golfers love the greens and the food is always excellent," she said. "This year was one of our largest crowds. Ever since we partnered with Sharon Hospital, the participation level has grown. "
"Sharon Hospital is delighted and honored to support such an upstanding organization as HYSB, while at the same time enabling us to spend a pleasurable day with our community neighbors," stated Sharon Hospital President Charles Therrien.
While the official numbers haven't been calculate yet, Bianchi hopes the event raised about $20,000.
"Everyone had a great time and this is going to help a good cause," she said.
